Frequently Asked
Bukhoor (بخور) is traditional Arabian incense made from pressed agarwood chips, resins, musk, and floral essences. Unlike raw agarwood chips, Bukhoor is pre-blended and formed into bricks or pellets for easy burning on a charcoal mabkhara (incense burner).
Place a small piece of Bukhoor on a lit charcoal disc inside a mabkhara (traditional Arabic incense burner). The heat releases deep, layered fragrance that fills the room for hours. Never burn directly over an open flame.
Raw agarwood chips are pure wood — complex and earthy. Bukhoor is crafted by blending agarwood resin with additional ingredients like musk, rose water, sandalwood, and florals, then pressing the mixture into bricks. The result is a richer, multi-layered fragrance experience.
A single piece of quality Bukhoor burned on charcoal will fragrance a room for 1-3 hours. The scent lingers on fabrics, curtains, and hair for hours afterward — a beloved tradition in Arabian hospitality.
